Hey there guys! Welcome once again to an Annual Review, this time 2021 edition! Check out my previous goals in this post.
I got inspired from Chris Guillebeau’s Post on How to Conduct an Annual Review. I’m linking to the 2020 version, but I have been doing this since 2014.
It really helps to know what you have achieved and more importantly, where are you “standing”.
The most important part of doing a Review is of course to see how well you did, how efficient and effective in achieving your goals. Also, it helps to get more realistic with your future goals and bring you to places you would never imagine!
It also helps me to plan ahead my future plans, goals and much more for the upcoming year (See 2022 Goals & Plans Blog Post)

Create More Courses & Educational Content
Mostly FAILED. Incredibly, I was not that productive in 2021, unfortunately due to covid, I was not inspired to produce content. I have a lot of ideas coming soon, so make no worries! Check out the 2022 goals if you want to know what courses I will be preparing soon.
The only piece of content I prepared was an online webinar of Oil & Gas, mostly the trends, consumption, production, reservoirs, etc… Check it out here.
Also FAILED. Formatting and standarizing the course contents, no relevant updates in my exiting content or re-strcture. No more quizzes, projects or exercises for the existing courses.
Focus in the Online Monthly Subscription Model
COMPLETED. I did focus my attention in the monthly subscription, even did some promotions, mostly in Black Friday 2021 as well as CyberWeek 2021.
It went great, attracted a lot of students from all over the world!
More & Better E-mail / Newsletter
Mostly FAILED. Didn’t work that much in newsletter, although I sent a lot of e-mails (mostly posts, youtube videos, and some other educational content) I still haven’t create any kind of “unique” content for e-mail or my newsletter.
Website Improvement
TOTALLY FAILED. There was no substantial change in backend or frontend, also no change in branding, no optimization for SEO was done and website optimization (faster loads)
Get Aspen Tech Certified
FAILED. Did not even registered or tried to do so. This is undoubtly one of the worst goals I had, since I did not had any “motivation” to study, or work towards the certifciation.
Publish at least 2 E-Books
FAILED. I did got some courses on how to publish on kindle, how to create e-books that sell and all that, but did not actually work on the e-books. Still thinking on which topics are hot… please let me know if you have any idea (comment in this blog post, send me an e-mail or a DM)
YouTube Channel
NOT ENOUGH. Did great, to be honest the most growth I ever had… But Still, not the amount I wanted to get (72K) we are currently in 60K.
I got a new camera, new lens, microphones, set of lights, new office space and started recording (you most likely have watch some vids!) Still didnt commit to it full time, or at least 1 a week.
Social Media Groups & Community
MOSTLY FAILED. I did not work that much, great thing these are passive growers!

Social Media (More Instagram)
MOSTLY FAILED. Although I did not added that much content in Instagram or Facebook I did worked my way in LinkedIn and got some followers, which is great. For sure I’ll be exploring this social media channel. Still pending: IG and also TikTok! Reddit was also a platform I wanted to consider.
Keep growing the Blog
FAILED. Although I failed in working on new posts, I did added some content, but still thinking wether or not it is convenient for me to work on making freshc ontent for the internet in this format. Still Think Video Format is king, so not that motivated to do more on this!
Podcast
TOTAL FAIL. Goal was to air at least once a week, that is, 52 episodes… That’s a lot, I just discovered that!.
Although I got a lot of interviews, I did not work that much in the edition or follow up. Worst thing is that I have the content pending to be uploaded!
ChemE Reviews
FAILED. I need to see the best way to improve ChemE News presentation. I really think its all about presentation and more is coming soon. Here is a playlist on ChemE News.
Most will be based on the newsletter of TheColumn.co
This was my 2021. Not that happy about it, but still looking forward for what’s comin this 2022!
